CONTINUUM
The concept has captured a prominent place within the Benecke portfolio. This concept unites all forms of post academic education that are essential for modern continuing education. Unique to the concept is the fact that education is not just of high quality, relevant and accredited, but that it also lives up to the ‘continuing’ character of post academic education for medical professionals. By filling in voids we aim to offer high quality added value in this field.
Educational format and content
From the time it is initiated, the format and content of a continuum is expanded and developed upon. The triad ‘knowledge-skill-attitude’ is central to this process. Knowledge aspects are relayed via large scale symposia. Skills are addressed in small workshops. Attention to the attitude aspect is given in meetings that are organised after the course to give participants a chance to evaluate and exchange experiences.
An inclusive range of subjects within the specific specialty is addressed within each continuum. In addition to the clinical themes, there is a serious focus on relevant management, organisational and communicative aspects of the profession.
Important role E-learning
Today E-learning is well established and has proven to be a very effective and appreciated educational format.
Independent board of advisors
The ambitious character of the continuum education platforms does not only require a high level of knowledge and decisiveness, but there is also a significant need for scrupulous monitoring. The concept and content need to be guarded closely. For that purpose, each continuum has an independent board of advisors. The members of this board are entrusted with this responsibility based upon their affinity with the specialty and their focus on education within that specialty.
